photon
Have you considered an arbor press? This may be worth a look https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVyV3ZTVpqY Edited January 13, 2015 by photon
bigadam
I'm just playing about at the minute so don't really want to be spending a fortune yet
humperdingle
How much are you spending on them? Anything under £20 won't be up to much use. I've had a rotating-head one for a while but hardly use it, preferring to use the hammer punches for holes or pricking tool/awl for sewing. CaptainBeaky
I managed to bend several of the pressed type plier punches, until I bought a forged pair from LePrevo. £30 as am end of line reduction. I've since seen them elsewhere for well over the hundred  Lovely to use, with replaceable cutters, but if you only want to punch a couple of sizes, then hammer punches might be the way to go. Incidentally, why are you punching stitching holes with a punch? Wouldn't an awl be better? edit: image added - Osborne revolving punch Edited January 15, 2015 by CaptainBeaky
