Mitchiet123
Hi all, After reading a previous post from today, i was wonderig if i was to part ex my current bolt action .22lr would i need to do a 1 for 1 or just sell it and then get a semi auto .22lr? The reason i ask is because i may swap it for a semi auto but my slot just says .22rf not 22.lr semi or anything else! surely this would mean i can buy any kind of .22 rimfire including .22WMR as long as i wait until first rifle is sold before buying a new one? Also, a 1 for 1 would surely just come back as .22rf as its still a .22 rf? lol Just want to check as ive had conflicting information- FEO changed my .22lr slot on my initial application to .22rf and sportsmans said they would let me have a .22wmr in that case, but others have said otherwise! Cheers, Mitch
Scully
This has been done to death on here really, but the essence is, if it says .22RF on your ticket then that is what you are entitled to buy. I applied for .22RF for this very reason, as Ruger had just brought out their M77 at the time but I wanted to leave my options open and applying for .22RF magnum would have tied me to that option. As it turned out I ended up with another .22RF also, and when licensing asked why I wanted another I told them my other one was a .22 Magnum.MY ammunition allowance for .22 ammo was entered as .22 RF also. The .22RF magnum is a RF; that can't be denied. If your RFD wont sell you one then give your custom to one who will. Mine didn't even comment when I told him what I wanted, but just ordered it. jimmyb79
You'll need a 1 for 1 whichever way you go. Even if you sell/part ex, you need to get the slot opened back up by a variation. I part ex'd an hmr for another of the same calibre. The dealer took my old rifle off me, gave me a receipt for the deposit on the new rifle and when my variation came back I picked up the new gun. I'd be wary of the whole 22rf thing though. To be sure to get what you want, I'd specify exactly on your variation form.
jason kaye
You definitely need a 1 for 1 once your current .22 is sold as now you have a .22 you no longer have the authority to buy one as your slot has been filled.
