Cranfield
A friend caught a 12lb cod from the beach at Sandown this evening on lug and squid. The recent big onshore blows seem to be bringing the fish in close. The commercial boats from Hythe and Folkestone have been doing well with big catches of cod. Perhaps its time to prime the Tilley lamp.
Ciderbooze
Damn that's a fine cod to catch from the beach!
Catamong
I used to regularly beach fish for Cod at Dengemarsh and Dungeness point back in the early 80's, as well as boat trips out of Dover, Folkestone or Deal. My best beach session was one night in December on the point at Dungeness, the wind dropped after a heavy onshore blow, I had 3 Cod inside of an hour, 12lb, 18lb & 22lb. I gave it up to concentrate on shooting, it was very often a long journey for a couple of tiny Whiting, hardly worth the effort..! Cat.
