new to the flock
Have been house bound the last couple of days so decided to undertake a small project to releave the monotany. I had a couple of turkey wings in the freezer for a day just like this so decided to make a couple of calls from the bones found in the first two wing joints. Started by getting the wings out and scrapping all the meat from the bones. Once all of the meat was scraped off into a pot of boiling water and a teaspoon of washing up detergent for 10 minutes. Bones are rinsed and given a final scraping. The bells are then cut off and the marrow removed using a stiff wire and some paper towel. After the bones are all clean inside... into a tub of 3% hydrogen peroxcide solution to bleach the bones white....about 3 hours. The sections are then dry fitted together and tuned. Then any gaps are packed with some cotton, and then the bones are epoxy'd into place. The finishing touches are then added.....I finished the lid on the box call I made last week aswell. NTTF

pin
This may be a really stupid question but what do you call with the bone call, the turkey himself? If so I really like the idea that you can make a caller out of a dead turkey to call in another turkey to shoot

By drawing air in through the call you can make different turkey sounds bringing in a new tom to shoot. This years season opens April 25 with a two bird limit NTTF
Cranfield
I must confess that I would not have the patience, or dexterity to make something like that, I would have to go and buy one. A bit like tying your own trout flies, something else I have tried and failed at. I am just doomed to be a retail consumer.
