il cacciatore
http://www.google-watch.org/bigbro.html That website claims that: Google puts a cookie on your harddisk that gives you your own unique ID number. Google records everything about you they can ie. your Internet IP address, the time and date, your search terms, and your browser configuration. etc. Google retains all data indefinitely. Google's toolbar is spyware amongst other unwholesome practices. You can check this out if you have a googlemail account they log all your search history and you have to manually 'opt out' by going to settings. Anyone can clarify if Google is as evil as that page suggests?

pin
You think this is bad, just see what a lot of less reputable sites try and do At the end of the day you don't have to accept cookies from anyone and if you are bothered about anonymity then use your ISP's web cache
il cacciatore
I guess, though you would expect Google to be better behaved as they have a friendly image - the marketeers must be busily working behind the scenes as in any company. Why, what do other websites do or what can they do with cookies? (I'm abit ignorant on these matters )
pin
Mostly tracking where you go and what you do, and then targeting you with information, mainly adverts. To be honest if I were you I would stop looking into it, you will end up as paranoid as me and that isn't healthy
il cacciatore
Is there a way to stop firefox from accepting bad cookies from say sites that are known to put out tracking cookies? I use Adblock but I guess that only stops ads. Had a look at firefox extensions but there are so many.

pin
Be careful what you delete, cookies are very useful and you can break some functions on some sites by deleting them. PW sets a couple and its a cookie that gets set when you say "remember me" - remove it and you will have to log in each time until you click "remember me" and allow the cookie to be stored.
