Need a new knife.

There is no single knife that will do everything you want VERY well, most are a compromise regardless of price.

You should consider a small 2-3mm thick sharp knife a larger 4-5mm- thick knife, both with a scandi grind for easy sharpening in the field, a folding saw and a small axe depending where you are going and for how long.

There has been good advice on here from people who have no doubt had experience with what you intend to do.

Above will not break the bank and it will give you the opportunity to find out what works and what don't.

Thanks photon, you make some good points, and that combo looks very handy to have.

I have a folding saw, a smaller folding knife, a hatchet, a medium axe, a maul and a chainsaw lol.

The knife that broke was a 5 inch sheath knife that filled a specific hole in my requirements. I don't like taking too many items a lot of the time, I want one I can grab and abuse. Straight 5/6 inch blade, relatively flat back to the blade, full tang etc. so far that w12 knife looks brilliant, just wish it was £30 less. I will most probably get it next month.

My post did come across as you would only have one knife with you but that wasn't my intention just badly written.

Good luck with your search
