Guest stevo
Has anyone got one? Or know of any info? Been looking but there does not seem to anything new info wise. I'm toying with the idea of keeping the yukon Xt on the Hw 100 and maybe getting an Nm atom for the rimmy. Any views or advice good or bad is welcome. Zetter
Hi Stevo After having a read on the night vision forums general impressions don't seem to be great. A fair few people have mentioned poor runtime from the batteries and the clarity wasn't anywhere near the you tube vids. I was looking at an add on and after some enquiries went for a Ward D 700. Although other decent options to look into would be a Ward D mini or a Nite Tek 300. Hope this helps Neil

Zetter
My Ward D 700 should be here this week so once I have had a propper play I will stick up a review Cheers Neil
Guest stevo
I don't seem to keen on the ones that have a screen on the end of the scope. That said I'm more than willing to be converted. So I for one would be very interested and grateful for your review and opinion.
Zetter
I had a LCD screen one prior to this and it was a dedicated scopeless unit. I also have a Nitesite NS50 but with both (and I will probably get counter opinions on this) I find they light up my face too much and the bunnies spot it and do a runner. One advantage with the Ward D is its really short so shouldnt cause change in head position as it takes in the space on the scope normally allocated to eye relief. However the proof of the puddings in the eating so I will give it a propper thrash over the next couple of weeks and let you know.
steve_b_wales
The Cobra Merlin NV add on is another good device.
spready
Im using the WDV700, can't rate it high enough , its bloody brilliant, if you take the time to set it up correctly. I'm using a single battery T50 and I'm able to see why past the range id be happy to shot with in day or night time. when you get yours take the rubber eye cup off and fit a scope flip up, makes it alot more comfy and better head position. my only gripe is the on and off switch is easily active I've its in your bag , could do with being abit stiffer or some other method

spready
I use the T38 and its good out to about 125 yards, thats what i use when I'm on my FAC air rifle, more than enough without getting white out. yes taking the eye cup off will work if you where glasses, my friend who sometimes tags along with me wears glasses and he shoots just fine with my setup. its no different to just lining up and looking through the normal scope really
vulpesvulpes
I've got a NT300 and I'm very pleased with it, I've taken foxes out to 275yds with it.
Zetter
Ok Stevo as promised my review of the ward D digital night vision add on. After a few comments about some issues with Clive Ward in the past I did wonder if this would go ok with an order but I did have some positive comments from a couple of people over on the night vision forums so went ahead and ordered. The service from Clive and his site was flawless. Unit ordered on the Saturday, Email from Clive on the Sunday saying they would process order on the Monday, Unit arrived on the Wednesday cant say fairer than that. The unit is well constructed out of high impact plastic and feels very solid. Charging is via the video out port with a supplied charger and battery life is supposed to be 8+ hours and I had it out all night last night and didn't have any power issues. Connection to the scope is with a built in dayscope adaptor with supplied shims and using these so far I have fitted it securely and successfully to a Hawke Panorama EV, an MTC Mamba light and a Vortex Viper 3-12x40 AO. If you have something that the shims don't suit Clive can machine a specific one for your scope. Setting up the first time take a short while but once its done its done. You set the focus of the unit to your eyes with a little wheel under the unit and once set that's it. For the scope you need to get the scope dioptre adjustment right so the crosshairs are clear with the unit fitted. This is best done at night and then once you have it set mark the setting on the scope with some tipex or in my case a sliver of white sticky label so you can find the setting again easily when you wind the dioptre back for day shooting. once this is done you are set to go. I took this out yesterday to one of permissions after rabbits with a t38 torch. After bolting it on I found I could leave the T38 on full power with no white out. Range for the unit with my T38 with backstops was about 120yards and I successfully made shots from 40-60yards using my CZ 452 .22LR. I think I may be investing in a Night Master 400 or a T67 at some point to give the extra range out to 250+ yards for spotting. Clarity is great I spend a happy 15 minutes watching two Muntjacs munching away at 70 + yards while waiting for bunnies to come out and play. Rabbits at rages of up to 120+ yards are easy to see and tell what they are and the backstops. I will be honest as I tend to limit myself to about 70yards with the LR for bunnies I didn't mess about much with the parallax of the scope so I set it so it was clear at about 50yards and left it as it was good then from 20 yards to 70. I think you would probably get greater clarity at longer ranges if you tune the parallax more I just didn't need to and as my scope is front parallax it was easier to set and leave it. Head position is close to my normal position for the scope. Its not exactly the same but its comfortable as the unit is quite short at 80mm. Also being inline rather than a screen as per a lot of add ons I didn't startle any rabbits with my face being lit up. This is an issue on my main position as one sign of light and they are offski. Overall I would thoroughly recommend this unit if you are looking for an add on unit that is small, light, gives good range and keeps a normal shooting position. spready
Glad you like it mate, they are cracking units, personally don't fit a T67 they are abit to much for the unit, they work , but anything close whites out, T50 single battery works brilliant

mick miller
Yeah... he never thanked me either for telling him not to make it with a push button up and down (as originally planned) but that it had to be an analogue knob instead. Nevermind.
