If i wanted to get a new shotgun as well as my current i have to reapply at £26 a touch and wait 6 weeks or more!! and to swap i have to go throu a dealer so he can change it on my cert. Your certificate rules sound quite good to me. Don't you have to have a cert for air rifles too?
dazza
yes we need a firearms cert for everything here including airrifles
njc110381
Sounds good to me. I know a lot of people are against certification for air rifles, but if they existed it could help the police. If an air rifle was treated the same as a live round, people who shot at the public from cars or windows etc would be strung up! Imagine what would happen if one of us fired a rimmy at someone from our bedroom window, we'd never be let out! That's how these chavs with airguns should be treated, and the country would be a better place for it.
Jimjim
yeah a know mate we even need to reapply just to fit a silencer to are rifles
desperado
It probably seems a bit of a hassle at times but I can definitely see the good of it. My fiance's dad has a gun in NI - you need land or a club even for a sub 12 FP air rifle. This would definitely sort out all the 18 year olds with 3 airguns in their bedrooms who take them to the local woods to shoot cats/sparrows/anything that moves giving all the decent shooters a bad name. Wish we had pistol clubs here tho Desperado
Jimjim
It can be a real hassel when you have to wait 6 months for the shotgun like i had to and 4 months for the hmr and the waiting time is still around 2-3 months now with all the updates to the system etc, you can understand why getting guns in northern ireland is so difficult haha

Or was that just old rusty ones?
