Scully
Nephew has just texted me from N. Zealand to tell me he's seen a gun over there and wants to bring it back when he returns. I know there have been several posts regarding importing from the states and am guessing the restrictions will be similar, but thought I'd ask anyhow. Is it worthwhile even trying? Cost prohibitive? Easy-peasy ( ) or should I just tell him to forget it? Edited: Obviously he can't literally bring it back with him, silly me. But you know what I mean. Gunman
If its a personal import there should be know problem provided he has the necessary licences at this end he can bring it back with him and declare it at customs. That's assuming the air line will carry it . If it has to be shipped then there is a raft of paper work to sort out first and may incur import duties , clearing fees and VAT. , plus the shipping charges , which may well make in an un economic proposition . What is the gun as a matter of interest ?
Scully
Many thanks Gunman. The gun apparently is a Akkar(?) field gun. I'd never heard of them so after googling I discovered it is a Turkish made gun valued at around £650 new so told him not to bother. Could find no pictures. If it had been a best English it may have been worth the hassle, but otherwise no. He's decided not to bother, but thanks for the advice anyhow. Worth knowing. I have no idea why he wants it, he already has two very expensive quality shotguns, unless he totalled a Kiwi layout with it.
