Hi to all after 11 years of long hours working i am now semi retired at the ripe old age of 58 lol so its time to get back to the sport i have been involved with for 30 years , i live in middlesex i have my own guns , decoy equiptment and transport basc insurance ,experanced in pigeon shooting beating and all field craft , i work part time for a local school taking the kids swimming and on day trips , also taking underprivileged children and families on trips in the school holidays , and it feels good to help , draw back is semi retired----- semi wage ?

if anyone needs a shooting buddy as a one off or if their is a reasonable syndicate looking for a new face , drop me a line i will travel i am reliable any area within 50 miles or so it would be nice to meet other people and get back to it , thanks for reading my post and good luck to all on this site .

The best method is to find some birds feeding on a field, find out who owns the field and knock on their door and ask if you can shoot the pigeons on that field.

You are not asking to shoot all of their land for the rest of your natural life (that comes later) , just want a day crop protecting, you might be surprised how often this approach works.

my approach is an introduction to me explanation of semi retired and working with schools ,and returning to the sport, crop protection , trust building , then supported with my experience and insurance coverage and places i have covered for estates in the passed , leaving them with a card and number , i don't push and i feel you should not tread on other shooters toes if the place is taken , i am happy with the response so far but as of yet no takers , you never know the phone could ring if the farmer is not getting the service he requires , so as of now still not been out having fun but i will keep pressing on , thanks for the advice

The farmers that I have called on have all said that they already have enough people shooting. I reply by saying that I only want to shoot on a weekday and live to weekends for those that work. This way I have talked 3 into letting me shoot and another in the pipeline. Tell them that you have insurance, and as Cranfield said, find some field where the pigeons are feeding and get your foot in the door before asking for too much.
