  5. i bought a motor bike it had no tax no paperwork or key the owner had left he,s wife , i sent the relevant forms off for log book with an attached letter of explanation and waited ,the book came in time as they had to try and track down the previous owner ,check it was not stolen , the bike was on a sorn, this ran out while waiting for the log book , i did not know at the time, a letter came through saying the sorn, had expired with a 9.25np fine for not having it taxed or sorn, ? lol it did make me laugh , paid it to keep the peace ,

  8. my approach is an introduction to me explanation of semi retired and working with schools ,and returning to the sport, crop protection , trust building , then supported with my experience and insurance coverage and places i have covered for estates in the passed , leaving them with a card and number , i don't push and i feel you should not tread on other shooters toes if the place is taken , i am happy with the response so far but as of yet no takers , you never know the phone could ring if the farmer is not getting the service he requires , so as of now still not been out having fun but i will keep pressing on , thanks for the advice

  11. if it is lacqured it will look like it,s flaking around any damaged part a bit like see through glue when it is dried . if it is oiled their are places t will look like it is lighter where the oil has worn away giving the look of bleaching , lacqure is a glossy type finish where oil is a sheen Finnish ether way if you are going to or want to oil the stock with a good wire wool taking the surface off ( and take your time ) you can apply the oil and it will be fine . remember if using boiled linseed oil apply with your hand as the heat from your hand thins the oil allowing it to be worked in to the grain of the wood the minimum you should apply is 3 coats the first coat being quite thick allowing it to soak in for 30 min and then wipe off the excess , allow to dry in a warm place over night then second coat , allow to dry then third , you can put more on if you wish to bring the shine out but as a rule 3 is fine , remember to dispose of the lint cloth you use for wiping off away outside as when they dry they can combust on their own , hope this helps you some what

  13. i run a 10 mill 100 ft to 2 work shops works fine bit of an overkill but it was the cheapest at the time separate fuse box strip lights and plugs all in a 6 m x 4 m workshop
  14. look on you tube full instructions on linseed and stock refurb just in middle of mine looks great takes about 1.5 h over 3 days to do properly
  15. a lot of guns can be on the shelves as S O R , placed on the dealers books by a customer just to sell for them this is where the dealer will only make a small profit for just selling it . so nothing is done to it just put on show to sell , if the seller has cleaned it , bonus if not it is what it is , i have seen this many times , always best to service it your self when you get it then you get peace of mind , the only way to get a good clean gun from the start is to buy new ,
  16. nice gun i have the same in 12g always being asked if i want to sell it , got it new a few years ago only use it for clays the only problem i have had is the safety , this is controlled by a small block and small round bar and a spring , when you select the barrel the block with the bar in moves left or right depending on what barrel you select the spring holds the round bar in place if you have to much oil on it , it allows the round bar to move within the block and the spring can slip off , it is rare for this to happen , and if it did you just unbolt the butt take it off and push the round bar through to the central position and clip the spring back over , a very minor problem just inconvenient when it happens as it stops the second barrel firing , but what a nice gun to own and use , rare and wanted check the price if you can find one on the gun selling sights , i paid 1250 years ago for mine been offered 1800 , but won't sell , enjoy
  17. if you go with a partner walk them off , shopping bags on sticks do work for a time until they get used to them but it,s worth a try
  18. this sort of thing used to go on where i had a perm , this was a mixed farm cow,s sheep and arable , in the end we had to bring it to the farmers attention , their was lots being left around , including beer cans the worry was if the animals chocked on the empty cases or they got stuck in their guts , we did say to others shooting to clear up their own **** but in the end we had to say as we did not want him thinking it was us and loose the site , their is only so much you can do before you have to say something as bad as it may seem squealing on others , and the thought that they might loose the site , we all know how hard it is to get one, it was the right thing to do ,to save the cost of a cow and the loss to all of us , but well done for all your efforts , in sorting this in the first place .
