stevo_m
Negative to the body will be fine.
Del T
Make sure you remove the paint if the area is painted for a good contact as I had real problems when I forgot to remove the paint lol.
grrclark
Definitely use the body. You might find that there is an existing fixture close by that you can use instead of drilling a new hole and cleaning back to bare metal.
fruity
Spot on put my mind at rest . Thanks for the quick response guys it's appreciated. There is a earth strap/connection next to the gromit from were the Cables come through the bulkhead so I'll connect onto that
oliver90owner
Negative battery terminal is earth on all modern machinery. Battery terminal should be securely attached to the body and be a low resistance connection. That should make them the same potential (earth or zero volts), so other connection should make no difference. Think here starter motor which may draw a couple hundred amps at power-up. You would be better with a direct connection to battery if the auxillary load is very high (one direct connection instead of two). Comes down to cost and logistics of running the cable back to the battery terminal and risks of shorts etc. Fuse link should be as close to earth potential as possible/practicable.
