jeffjjack
I thought you needed the tax disc in order to get a refund, prior to changes? I prefer things the old way, but then in one of those that struggles with change. And surley in the case of jeffjjack, you should har sent off the v5 and change of ownership date, and therefore anything after that date isn't your problem? Knowing the type of fellas they were I made sure that I sent the V5 form off straight away. This relinquishes me of all responsibility for the car but the details HE filled the form in with could be completely false (and probably were). Before ANPR and all the data bases the tax disc was the first "tell" to a potentially dodgy motor. So buying one with tax on it and not registering the car meant nobody knew who was driving it. In my case I believe that they were caught as a result of the police following the car and the ANPR system flagged no insurance... then the chase was on! The culprits got stuck in a field and did a runner. A farmer friend of mine had to drag the car out for the police... they consequently took the car away to be crushed. hoggysreels
If you sell your taxed car to somebody then you can tell the new owner that you will not post off the V5 off to the DVLA for a couple of days . That will give them time to re tax the car . Harnser In the first couple of days, they go past a speed camera and deny ever driving the car at the time ... good luck with that one!
