MrM
My dad allowed me to shoot and handle shotguns from about the age of 9 or 10 and I had my own when I was 12. However, he would never allow me to have an airgun!! His logic was that he knew I'd never ever point a shotgun at anything that I shouldn't but I might with an airgun. My dad had a shotgun when we were growing up, and we also had airguns. My older brother shot me in the leg as I was riding a bike round the garden (although guns weren't that powerful then luckily)
Bazooka Joe
Always dropped the hammers & removed the under carriages, took the bolts & mags away from the rifles, & never showed them how to put them together, they probably still don't know to this day. Two of them, one 23yrs old, & the other 21yrs have been shooting many times, they've moved on now though, & the interest has gone. To me it's educating them the rights & wrongs that's the key.
