Duckandswing
I need to extend the butt of my new sbs by around an inch. Principally to extend the lop, but also to lessen the felt affect of recoil. Can anyone suggest a suitable recoil pad? Ideally one which is easy to fix and doesn't ruin the look of the gun. Old Boggy
I have just fitted a leather covered recoil pad to one of my 16 bore SxSs to lengthen the LOP. There is an excellent demo of how to do this on YouTube by Larry Patterson of Midway USA, just google 'how to install a leather covered recoil pad'. I used a Bisley solid rubber recoil pad which come in different thicknesses to suit whatever increase of LOP you want. Best to use very thin leather as it's a bit tricky getting the leather over toe and heel without wrinkles, but the end result is well worth the effort. Hope that this helps and best of luck. rwade545
You can try a 1" rubber recoil pad. Grind to fit with power sander of a gunsmith can do if for about 20. Pads are available off ebay for around 15, I usually refinish the guns oiling at same time. Edited June 9, 2015 by rwade545
