nicknsd1978
I have just purchased a new silver pigeon 1 sporter and it looks to have an auto safety. Not fired it yet but when opening it, it seems to set the safety catch so when you close it you will need to knock off the safety for you to fire it (tried it with snap caps)...I thought it was only the game version that had an auto safety? Do the sporters now also have an auto safety? Edited June 27, 2015 by nicknsd1978
huds78
When I got my game version it was only them that had the auto safety at the time not the sporter? Did you buy it from a dealer or private ? The other way to tell is what chokes does it take ? the Mobil or Optima ones ? Mobil for game and Optima for sporter. grousemoor
I don't know about a silver pigeon, but when I bought my 682 Gold E it was a very quick (and cheap) job for the dealer to convert it to auto-safe. Someone on PW will know how to convert your gun back to manual safety if that's what you want. Enjoy your new gun!
welshwarrior
There is a channel milled into all 68 series actions to allow the simple fitting of the auto safety. To remove it is an easy job and a gunsmith won't charge very much at all for it.
nicknsd1978
It was a game gun after all that...getting it swapped for a sporter...can't believe my luck
