spandit
I've obtained a great new permission and after walking some of it this afternoon with the estates manager, I came back this evening with a mate to shoot some rabbits. Loads of public footpaths all over it and with it being such a pleasant evening, there were many dog walkers. We spoke to a few as thought trying to hide would look pretty dodgy. Once it got a bit darker, the bunnies came out and we started lamping them a little more effectively. Towards the end of the evening I get a text from said manager asking if everything was sorted? Thinking he was just enquiring about progress I texted him back the number we'd shot but then he replied saying "did the police catch up with you?" I called him and apparently someone had phoned the police to say there were two men with guns prowling about. A copper turned up at reception and the receptionist gave him the manager's number. The policeman was subsequently given my number but never 'phoned me. I suppose after Tunisia the public are going to be ever more gun wary but glad the response wasn't escalated and I didn't have to stare down the barrel of an MP5 to end the night off

belly47
I generally have my licence in my car when I go shooting just in case, but on my phone I have a pdf copy along with my written permission letters from the land owners. Only ever had one visit from police after a trespassing dog walker reported me and a pal. The police were really friendly and it was hand shakes all round and have a good day after they had checked us out Edited July 1, 2015 by belly47
