Cranfield
I had my hound done at the same time as her first jabs. The chip is about the same size as a small grain of rice and is "injected" in the loose skin round the neck/shoulder area, she never even flinched. We used Petrac upon the recommendation of quite a few knowledgeable people.
Russell
I asked my vet about chipping last friday when I took my 10 week old pup for her second jab. They would do it at any time if I really wanted it doing, but they would prefer to do it when the pup is @ 6 months old.
al4x
Its a good idea we had ours done @3 months and I have to say with a small dog the size of the needle certainly made me wince. I'd leave it longer as the better grown the dog is the less chance of the chip migrating too far. Ours is currently under her front leg so has moved a long way
