Paddy Galore!
went out last night for rabbits, I had a few jobs to do round the yard first, and while I was doing those there seemed no end of wildlife come either wandering or flying through since the hay has been cut. I honestly thought I was in for a bumper bag as there were plenty of young hanging about the fringes of the hedgerow, even a young roe made an appearance. I finally got sorted and picked the rifle up around 9pm only to find that all the rabbits had gone to bed and a group of 3 cubs with their mum were trying to catch moles, it was a funny sight at first so I wandered off to the other paddock only to bag 1 rabbit which was promptly taken by another fox hiding in the rape next door! I was feeling less amused being in the company of these by the minute so decided to trim them out a bit earlier than usual. now I don't normally bother too much with foxes but these are a bloody nuisance and are quite happy to hang around and poach my quarry, which to me seems a bit of a bloody liberty. the end result was one rabbit and two fox cubs, and hopefully next time they'll have the good manners to f o h when I'm there. cheers, Paddy
