On a serious note I'm looking for trousers for beating/shooting and not over-trousers but being 5.4" and a 34" waist I'm struggling to find branded pairs. I need 29/30" leg. Anyone seen any? There was a company in the West Country who promised to bring some along to Stow *** Quay fair but they turned out to be a) twice the price mentioned in an email and b) twice the leg length when I tried them on.

Seriously, the German Army moleskin, a brilliant trouser.

Ex army issue DPM. Can't go wrong. I use different typres deepnding on season and cover, incluing Multicam, Cadpat (genuine), UK woodland dpm, and Flecktarn. The Flecktarn and Multicam are the heaviest and most robust. All are genuine issue surplus and cheaper than buying fancy shooting branded trousers.
