i was just on about that to a mate today, i can insure it via the chassis number, i can run it on trade plates or just tax it, but its still not registered in this country soi doubt it will be legal, my mate spoke to his nephew who works at a land rover garage and he said it could be some grub screw that has something to do with the oil filter, so he has looked at that but cant start it yet as i need a new gasket for it, failing that i thought about getting it on the drive and putting it on axle stands and running it like that, but not sure if thats the done think or not, knowing my luck it would rattle off and smash into the wall :hmm::hmm:

dont run it on stands....it needs pressure in the bores for the whole thing to work proper.........whats this grub screw thing on the oil filter....the only thing on there is the oil sender and the valve which controls the oil pressure......dont mess with the oil pressure unless you have a test gauge....you need to run the vehicle UNDER LOAD to bed the ring s in...so you will have to find somewhere.....

just pretend you are eastern european if you get stopped by the fuzz...they will let you go...FOC..:lol:

question, and i think i know the answer already, when its taxed and insured and booked in for its MOT, will i legally be able to drive it to the test center even though its not rejistered in this country and will have no plates on, i have the use of some trade plates if that would help??

my mates sorted it out thanks, he was told that they can be missing or slack and that can cause it to smoke, he said he got a couple of turns out of it so were hoping it could be something as simple as that, but cant start it and check at the moment as the oil filter isnt on, should be coming wednesday, but as already said it probably needs running in :good::good:

this if way to far beyond my knowledge,

ohh that one.......naughty boy that should have been done before fitting the filter head....never mind....its a locking pin allan screw........screw it right in to refusal...must locate the bush....then back it out so it is still in contact with the bush but not the shaft......

i have the same thing as its virtually the same block...but the shaft drives my vacumn pump...and on the 2.5l petrol version it drives the distributor...

if you had paid attention during my engine re-build instead of abusing me...you would have seen pic's of me putting the locating pin in the block.....perhaps you ought to revist the post...

pay attention this time....

abusing you is so much fun though :yahoo::yahoo: and if i had half a clue of what you were doing i might of paid more attention, i just looked at the pictures, and some times i printed them off and colored them in with my new crayons :lol::lol:

and i have 2 boxes of sanding pads you can have that i bought when i borrowed my brothers DA sander that i never really uses, not sure of the grit but i was told they were both right for rubbing my land rover down, spent £40 on them and used only a few of them

found the sand paper pads Simon, they are 500 and 320 grit :good::good:
