la bala
just ordered a new o/s front door bottom from paddocks as the paint sprayer said the one i had wasn't worth painting, i had it delivered to him and it got there today at diner time, he called me to say the top of it wasn't bonded, i called him to see what he was on about, he said at the top of the door where the skin meets the frome it wasnt stuck together and that it should be,he said he could bond it but it just shouldn't be like that, i rang paddocks and told the bloke who answered and he went away for 10 mins and come back and said he had been speaking to the parts manager and he had said there all like that, none of them are bonded and never have been and that its the capping that holds it together, so i rang the painter back and told him, he said what a load of ****, so i just told him to bond it, my question is have paddocks bent me over Dont know, are you feeling pain anywhere. ditchman
yes, my (@) hole THIS "BONDING " THING...........i think they mean "blinding " the steel frame against the aluminium skin...........i prefere to put my own skins on.. ..as i can tape and bond (mastic putty) the whole thing properly before crimping the skin tabs down......if you dont bond or tape it after 3-4 years the electrolisis will eat away the aluminium and pin holes will appear

Fuji Shooter
Hey Viking, I need to order new doors and tops for mine, how are the door cappings held on, are they easy to swap over? Only asking before my painter also bends me over for more money. I am already at the trousers down stage.

viking
Yes it was just the mad instinct I have to spray things at the moment. Best thing is last week when is cleaned all the paint off. I hung it back up to paint it again with out thinking. Glad I realised in time. I'm going to use the oil you good folk suggested can't remember it's name but I know it's on this thread. Not sure when it will be getting started but hopefully soon. I would also just like to say a big thank you to la Bala for sending me a new bolt for the rocker cover. Very kind indeed. On my phone at the moment so no thumbs up or smiley faces. Ha ha lol

ditchman
When you assemble it........are you leaving the stripes off.............might be better to....then the buyer can make the choice... the colour is sort of growing on me putting anti-resonance pads in the doors ? viking
i think it will look **** without the stripes, there defiantly going back on if i knew what anti-response pads were id be able to answer your question
ditchman
i think it will look **** without the stripes, there defiantly going back on if i knew what anti-response pads were id be able to answer your question the pads are stick on and are thick tarry rubberey stuff............and believe you me you need them...stick them on ALL the large panels ..under the bonnet...inside the doors and on the roof and wheel wells and the bulkhead..........they will eliminate all the banging and druming rummbling......the more you put on the better...and the landy will sound nice when driven.........you must take this advice seriously...............you might be able to buy a ready made already cut out pack for your model
viking
i see, it had some of them on when i was stripping it, if i remember rightly there were some on the inside if the doors, rear bulkhead behind the seats,in the seat box, not many but a few. i well look for some now
