Peter_HMR
Cant really say as i dont know how a gas system works but it wont be dangerous unless it breaks and comes into contact with a moving part. It can be fixed easily just depends on how fussy you are remove it from the gun glue it then clamp it and let it dry then you can sand it down and blend it in with some wood filler or paint/finish the whole stock generally no matter what you do it will always look like a patch job. dunganick
give chriss potters a bell, they carry a large range of forends and stocks, and happen to be the main gmk importer. However a forend for a semi is unusual. And dont expect it to be cheap.

MC
If it is only a hairline crack then go to a model shop and buy some Zap CA super glue, it is as thin as water and all you need to do is apply a bit of pressure to open up the crack and put a few drops of glue on it. release the pressure and a few seconds later it will be stronger than it was to start with.
