steveyg
The Plan.. Morning up at 5am,drive 50 mins to a perm with cut barley and rape. Had a couple of good bags on the crows from this perm this time last year so was hopeful of nailing a few. Result 8 mixed corvids and a single pigeon.. Afternoon Recently cut rape field 10 mins from my house was attracting decent numbers in the week, arrived at 12 ..nought about, waited for an hour still nothing. dad joined me at 1pm and was looking forward to a shoot so we set up in two hides. Treeline behind us and the wind coming from behind. No Flight lines but the occasional few birds kept us entertained. Result I finished with 19 pigeons and dad had 9. 13hr day over 100 miles traveled, this pigeon shooting lark can be frustrating.... still wouldn't want to be going anything else though.. No comment, you might be tempted to put a contract out on me. If you can skive off work one day this week, we could have a day just up the road from your place, as it's all been cut. ( Friday ?.) How have you got time to look at pigeon watch when your supposed to be working. atb have a nice one p/u.

Redditch
If you want corvids, they are about much earlier than pigeons, so I always make sure to be set up and ready to go 30. Minutes BEFORE first light, with all decoys out and hide built, gun loaded and waiting. Then I generally get good bags on corvids, whereas the pigeons tend to come once the sun has been up for a while and the air and ground has warmed up a bit. Also, wet weather tends to favour corvids, whereas hot weather tends to favour the pigeons, at least that's how it goes here in Northern Ireland

What about the time spent with this old man ?, I think i'm going to start charging you by the hour, plus the taxi fare, (driving you to and from the venue) and the use of my equipment, at this rate your going to need another part time job. atb p/u see you Friday.
