Lancs Lad
Getting pup in 3 week she will be kept in a cage over night could any one tell me what the best make of bed is and should i cover the cage sides and back to make it more of a den and keep warmth in Hi mate, my pup is in his cage. I dont bother covering it. Best make of bed is something he will lie in....mine was 20 quid from pets at home........and is nothing special. He also loves the old bean bag from my daughters play house. Your house will be warm enought anyway so wouldnt worry about "keeping the warmth in".... Give him a hot water bottle and thats all he should need.
Lancs Lad
OOOOPPPS..... Came down to an extra brown smelly puppy this moring.. He was crying about 2am this morning - which has been out of character since during the last week he has been fine and going through the night. Gave him a quick rebuke of JASPER after about a few mins but didnt go down to him.... Then again about 4 am the same thing but he kept it up for about 5-10 mins or so..... Again, gave him a shout.... Guess that he was trying to tell me something.......................now got an unhappy wife............
new to the flock
Lancs Lad, Listen to the tone of the crying or barking. If he needs to go out it will usually be higher pitched and have a distressed sound to it, unlike his I want to play bark. If you head down to him thinking he needs out, take him outside immediately, tell him to do his business and put him directly back into the crate after. This will keep him from getting the idea that he will get you up on false pretence to play. NTTF

NTTF Didnt notice any change in pitch, will have to keep an ear out, either which way, Wifey will have me down the stairs before my eyes or ears have opened anyways. Think I will just use the CRY as an indication, the rest of this week and most of last he was going through the night. Should have thought about this last night but he didnt deficate when I let him out in the garden before we went to bed, seemed to be quite happy with just urinating and then heading back into the house. Only 2 more weeks before he can actualy go "OUT" for a walk instead of being restricted to the garden. Also dont think it helped me having a digger in the garden ripping up the grass yesterday afternoon as no doubt a lot of scent markers have gone. Fingers crossed that there are no more "incidents"......

Dont worry about covering the cage
