Guest rimotu66
I have been gifted a MAE side by side 12g shotgun, I cannot find much information about this gun, has anyone got one or had one? It seems to be of similar quality to Baikels, not very nice to look at but built to last forever.

Stonepark
Baikal IZH58 MAE (it is ejector model, button to turn off and on is on fore end with spring if present between forend metal fitting to barrel), the one I have dates to 1972. Yours seems to be choked half and half, unlike most that are half and full. Edited September 8, 2015 by Stonepark
Guest rimotu66
Thanks Stonepark, Mine does have the spring but I will stay with ejectors working, I was told it is full and full and I have to say it looks tight, I'm guessing the .719" is the choke? Stonepark
.719 is barrel bore size, they were made for paper wad and were quite tight, rather than .729. Choke markings are normally up front next to barrel, can't quite read yours with flash, will get mine out tomorrow for a gander.
fortune
The gun was proof tested at the proof house of Klimovsk. This is shown by the letters like RNC in a horizontal diamond mark on the barrel flats near the left extractor to the right of 750 AT. This old thread is worth reading.>> http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/117238-bikal-problems/
