steveshoots
Hi guys my pigeon magnet motor came to a grinding halt yesterday. Although I have had it a few years It's time to buy a hew one. Has anyone got a recommendation as I have seen some on E bay that are cheap at around £50 from Fulmarks but I need one that's going to last. any help would be appreciated thanks Steve. malkiserow
If weight is NOT an issue, get an Andy Moss one £70 ish all in delivered all you will need is a charger. If I have the name right, he is Delia Smiths personal pilot as running an engineering business.I currently use an Ultralight from UKShootwhorehouse which is good although I am a bit wary about some of the fine grubsrews used to hold various bits together. That said, it is much lighter than the Andy Moss one. I guess that if you look after the UKSW one they will both last a long time. The AM one is built like a Russian tank and will probably go on longer than a PW thread on hot-women-in-camo!
steveshoots
thanks Malkiserow weight is not a problem I will look into it straight away.
malkiserow
With the Andy Moss one, you won't need an extra speed controller as it has a control built in, not bad for something so well constructed. I had one for ages and 2 mates use them still.

Redditch
If your magnet came to a halt, it MAY be repairable. Cheaper than buying a new one. Often it's water has got down the shaft and rusted it, causing it to bind. If it's rust, just take the motor out, circlip off shaft, screws out of back plate, knock shaft and gear out, clean all, lots of grease on shaft, and reassemble. If the motor has burned out, usually a motor from the scrappy will fit. Or be made to fit Edited September 24, 2015 by Redditch
steveshoots
It's the motor it went up in smoke burned out. I fancy a new one as I abused the hell out of the last one. It took some hundreds of hours on it so it came to know suprise when it blew. I aim to change the motor with a rear wiper motor to get me going for the weekend on bean stubble. Malk has got me wanting an Andy Moss magnet and at £70 or so it's a sound investment by all accounts. I can save this one for back up when I repair it. I repaired my big four arm one, and that's working sweet as a nut again (it had a rusted shaft after 4 years hard use) Bought three others, two standard and a lightweight. The lightweight burnt out within 2 days of hard wind :( The other two standard, one is fine, the other keeps breaking welds, so will have to repair that LOL But, then I will have three, two of which have speed controllers for corvids, and one without for pigeons
