hellier0437
i'm on the verge of buying a new .22rf, but does anyone have any feelings over whether to get a cz varmint or american. i will be going for the 16" barrel. i was just wondering whether the extra weight of the heavy barrel on the varmint gave a sufficient increase to compensate the weight to carry and the extra difficulty in shooting in the standing position. i have been quoted £277 for the varmint and £283 for the american so cost difference is not a problem) any help gratefully recieved
dunganick
no the american is just as accurate, however for your money you get: better blueing on a lighter barrel, a blued action as opposed to horrid fake bead blasted finish on varmint, two acton screw? as opposed to one and a barrel lug on the varmint. better wood typically with a nice thin forend with chequering on it. if i had my money back it would go on an american. mry716
Just reading the latest news on CZ and they are bringing out (maybe already) a single set trigger model. Push forward for feather weight trigger. Designated 453 and available in American and Varmint - both with wooden stock
hellier0437
is the sillouette not an option?i have one and am more than pleased with it i was looking for a wooden stock -old fashioned! no the american is just as accurate, however for your money you get: better blueing on a lighter barrel, a blued action as opposed to horrid fake bead blasted finish on varmint, two acton screw? as opposed to one and a barrel lug on the varmint. better wood typically with a nice thin forend with chequering on it. if i had my money back it would go on an american. doesn't the heavy barrel give you an advantage on the range in practise as it doesn't heat up?, i know that all the target rifles have the heavy barrels atso, are the triggers on the two models the same? Peter_HMR
I'd go with the american for the above reasons i dont like the idea of one action screw and a barrel lug plus the american is classy looking. In terms of preformance both guns will be the same there is really no advantages in either one barrel wont heat up on a .22lr to warrent the extra thickness. Both have same triggers the 453 is the newer model which has the single set trigger and has been available for some time
dunganick
its already out mate (or at least that was my understanding) but you will loose the ability to put the trigger kits in it i believe, although the yanks seem to think hte standard trigger is pretty good.
