Gun Watch
Ithaca Gun Co. 37 £340 12 gauge Shotgun Private Seller Used - Excellent Condition WEYMOUTH, Dorset Pump Action, Improved Cylinder, -, 26" barrels Description For Sale: An Ithaca Model 37 Featherlight 5-shot 12-bore that has fired less than 200 cartridges from new. It is unusual in that it has a 26 inch improved cylinder barrel, factory, not modified, handy in a hide. There were two Ithacas on guntrader recently, one 12b with the usual full choke barrel for £295(I think) and another 20b for £595, there don't seem to be many for sale. Like other Ithacas that I have known, it prefers paper cartridges, though Hull Special Pigeon(plastic) seem to function OK. I am not in a hurry to sell it as the replacement slot on my FAC is not due to be filled until March 2016, so you have time to get a variation. I think it would be worth a lot more than £300 to someone who wants one, so PM me best offers, preferably by Xmas. I can deposit it with a RFD of your choice as soon as it is paid for. I would prefer offers to come from someone who has seen it, or you can nominate someone in Dorset to view it for you. I travel to Staffordshire from time to time(4+ hour trip), so it could be viewed in the Midlands, but I'm not going to be running about all over the country to sell it. I can email pictures. Jim 07790759199 PS I never answer the landline, too many cold calls. This gun is being sold by Pigeon Watch member rjimmer. a303
Funnily enough I own the 30"inch that was recently advertised. Is yours a field model or a DSPS? Either way it's a rare gun in that condition.
rjimmer
Field model, I presume. 2 brothers ordered one each and they turned up IC. One of them is obsessed with having a full choke so I had it off him, unused. When the magazine restrictions came in, I put it on my FAC. Not sure if it would be suitable for slugs. .715 at the muzzle. I want another .223 rifle(for night vision) and don't want to have so much stuff that I have to start looking at alarms connected to plod. I only kept it as a backup. The 270 has got to go as well. FAC gun ,thats a pity. Plenty of time to get a variation if you already have a FAC. Pity to have it castrated!
rjimmer
Funnily enough I own the 30"inch that was recently advertised. I think the one I had years ago had a 29" barrel, but it was a long time ago. Is yours the one from Guntrader that's no longer on there? Does it cope with plastic cartridges? a303
Yeah, was the one off gun trader. I've not shot it yet as I'm currently refinishing the wood as I've had to repair a crack in the stock. Metal work is seriously tidy for a 1960 model and barrel is 29.5 I think. rjimmer
If that's the one for £295 with a cracked stock, I may have under-priced mine then. Just got to wait for the right person to notice it. My old one was about the same vintage as yours and had bulge in the barrel where it had been fired with snow in the barrel in January 1963. a303
It was £199, luckily no bulge in the barrel. Still think yours is way too cheap if it's immaculate.
rjimmer
I tried to put a "+" after the price, but the system rejected it. Early days yet!
rjimmer
I think it will be sold tomorrow, to someone who already has the slot on their FAC.

stevethejeep
Hello, I've purchased this M37 of the vendor (very smooth transaction), having been after an 'unmolested' example for a while. I'm delighted with my purchase, and having polished the inside of the chamber to a mirror finish, have had not extraction problems with the variety of cartriges I've put through. It makes a welcome addition to my cabinet mostly filled with the designs of Mr John Moses Browning ! Thank you!
rjimmer
Cheers, Steve, I was wondering how you were getting on with it. Made my day! Unmolested .270 next. Edited October 31, 2015 by rjimmer
