starlight32
I was out with Pavman today ( A full update on the days events will follow shortly by him). I had the pleasure to see the new Hydraflaps in action. Well from my opinion they really do work. Birds were pulling in from a good distance away and decoying well into the pattern with only one or two spooked. Also bearing in mind we had only a gentle breeze and it was a hot sunny day so not ideal conditions either. I am ordering some first thing Monday morning. turk101
I used mine yesterday, the pull birds in but it was way to sunny which was spooking them. I saw a post on here somewhere about them shining, perhaps it's was that. turk101
Will Beasley
I used mine yesterday, the pull birds in but it was way to sunny which was spooking them.I saw a post on here somewhere about them shining, perhaps it's was that. turk101 The early ones did shine......dunno how long ago you bought them? We also told Jim@ Sillosocks about them shining and they are supposed to all be sprayed with Krylon matting spray. If you're having probs still with them shining try a can of "glass frosting spray" from Plasti-Kote availble in all Homebase stores....works a treat and really dulls any shine. Its safe to use on the Tyvec and it works well on lots of other shiny things so its a good thing to have in the bag so it can be used on rotor arms etc
stormdog
What a great idea!! So the UV paint that they are supposed to be finished with serves no purpose at all then!
Highlander
Shine can be a problem with all sorts of bits of equipment, rotaries, magic movers, bouncing rods etc. Keep a careful watch on your pattern for anything that sparkles as it can often be that putting the birds off especially if they come in well only to jink away at the last minute. Will Bs idea works well as do a number of other proprietry matting materials. Just goes to show DIY is alive and kicking in the pigeon decoying world...anyone watch Blue Peter
