Luckyshot
17hmr will be too fast for most indoor ranges.

shaun4860
Braidwood near Kelso has a 100meter indoor range but ring first as its only for 1 at a time, Its a pipe range
Katzenjammer
Bishop Auckland has a 50 metre range - no idea if they allow 17hmr. I seem to recall someone talking about a pipe range down Thirsk way. Most of the local clubs go off to Catterick ranges by prior arrangement. This is a club thing and not for individuals. Be calibres larger than 17hmr I would guess.
Outdoorsman
I googled it there seems to be a few down south were you can just turn up and shoot, dont know about thirsk it would be nice if anyone has info on that, if im going to have to go through all the rigmarole of having to join a club, ill just do what i have to do on the land i have, its a shame really that there are no 7 days a week turn up and shoot range's around here

tharsus
Theres a 20 metre range at the Mayfair in Sunderland, .22lr and pistol calibres (.38.etc) think the limit is around 1400fps / 400ftlb iirc obviously no HMR
nighteye
Don't know about the northeast but if you wanted to travel up a bit there is a cracking range (indoor) at cluny clays in Livingston , auto targets and video link camera looking onto your target , I use it for zeroing and load testing , brilliant place bud

I'll try to catch a bloke at the local air rifle range on Sunday who is a member and may also know where the Thirsk place is.
Outdoorsman
Does any one have a contact number for bishop, reading the site it looks like a chew, appointment only, emails, only allowed to go on tuesdays at first, i would like to ring them speak to some one and get details cheers
Katzenjammer
I doubt you will circumvent their requirements and procedures. Listening to lads at the air rifle club who are members there or at other local clubs, it seems the rigmaroles are the same everywhere and quite rightly so? Being a current FAC holder will allow some fast tracking perhaps. I would bite the bullet and email them now. You may get a reply tonight? Katzenjammer
Here's another couple http://darlingtonshooting.org.uk/index.html 25 yds but access to Catterick etc Tall Trees nr Elwick - where I shoot air rifle, also known as Woodview has a 25 yd indoor range for LBR and .22 rimfire. I doubt Bob will allow the use of .17 HMR in there as it is too short. The few times I have zeroed my .22 rimfire in there has been restricted to minimal use of hollow point - solid rounds only because of the Linotex backing - some rounds tear it to pieces and shortens the life of the stuff. and another http://www.hartlepoolrifleclub.co.uk/about.html and another http://www.teessideshooters.org.uk/ Can't find any mention of .17HMR as an acceptable calibre. I think that's going to be your stumbling block. Edited November 13, 2015 by Katzenjammer
Outdoorsman
Yeah like you say HMR is probably to hot for most indoor it was worth a try though, i just wanted to ring bishop before i waste time waiting for replies to emails, i may just have to bite the bullet and send an email
