Harnser
I have a pair of old minox night and day binos . They have a yellow coating on the front lenses and are very good .with a super clear image and very good in low light conditions . They are stamped on body of the binos as being 40 x 50 . They are definitely not 40 magnification ,but are 50 object lenses . I am sure that they are 10x50 and not 40x50 . My question is , have they been stamped wrongly or is there another method of stating the power of binos . Harnser

Harnser
No . They are definitely stamped 40x50 . I have compared them with another pair of bins that I own that are 10x50 . Their magnification seem exactly the same . I am convinced that the minox are 10 x50 . Just seems strange . Harnser

Harnser
could be BAK 4 prisms x50mm lens ? Thank you for your answer . What exactly does that mean . I am not really up in bino talk . Harnser
panoma1
If they were 40x magnification you would need to tripod mount them as I doubt you could hold them still enough freestanding to get a clear view! Any small movement would be magnified 40x and the object you were viewing would be a blur!
