the DT10 is a great gun for a reason , it was built for one reason ad one reason only , i love them , so maybe a little biased haha still if i had the money i would like the ASE

I have way too much to learn before I even think about stuff like that , nice to dream though

Just go for it if you feel like it mate - I haven't shot the Kreighoff but they say it's a great few days as is the Bywell DTL weekend in June. If you can go to Nottingham & shoot 97/289 at your first attempt your already well on your way, time & shooting comps as different grounds will only benefit you :good:

was today at Nottingham and district

as some of you know I started clay shooting few months ago , and today was my first registered shoot

well ............... it was cold , wet , and windy haha

now keeping in mind ive never shot there before and also my first reg shoot on DTL , I was quite excited to say the least .

my bubble was soon burst , the rest of the squad came out

Leanne Powell ............... ( England DTL team ) . blooming hell I thought

Ian coley............. ( mbe England veteran's team and Olympic coach ) OH you got to be joking !

dave hinchcliffe ................ ( England veteran's team ) now this is taking the **** haha

so no pressure then ,

after we all cleared our guns , I just put my head down and tried not to think about the company I was in , was hard though I have to admit .

I missed 3 birds all together 2 of them were just straight lack of concentration 1 bird ( my last one ) had my gun on it and the wind that was gusting , just dragged it out of the air ...... missed I was a bit gutted with that bird but that's life .

had a great afternoon though . and the experience of shooting against these people was AMAZING to say the least

I shot 97/289 with my CG sporter and came second out of squad , mr hinchcliffe done it with a 99/ think he had one second barrel

that is an amazingly impressive score, given the circumstances.

well done mate! I was shooting at around that level earlier this year but changing gun twice in the space of a few months really messed it all up.

how often are you shooting? weekly?

Thank you Brett,

well for starters i ckecked the scores on CPSA and i would apper i just lost out to Mr coley MBE by 1 point , i thought it was the other way around hahaha wishfull thinking on my parts me thinks

he shot 98/290

me 97/289

as for shooting errr i rough shoot ( pigeon /crow } one or two times a week , and clay shoot at weekend at some point every weekend , however in game shooting months i tend to shoot more clays at weekend

cartridge wise I do around 1500 a month on clays ,

That's massively impressive being your first comp wouldn't you say (I'm sure you know that to be fair)!! To be one off someone like Ian Coley must have felt great. Without sounding stupid that's 98/100 clays right?

Never had a proper go at DTL so no idea of the format/rules to be honest, I always just do rounds of sporting clays when I go which is invariably only when there's a lack of pigeons to shoot so not that often. It's amazing how different it is to shooting pigeons etc and requires so much concentration I have to take my hat off to you :)

What made you get keen on that discipline in particular, purely out of interest?

thanks dave .

DTL is scored as

first barrel kill 3 points

second barrel kill 1 point

missed bird zero points

so my score breaks down as

95 first barrel kills

2 second barrel kills

3 missed birds

hence the 97/289

at the moment i am trying to get classified in all the disciplines i want to do ie. DTL, SKEET , ABT. SPORT TRAP , FITASC

so for the time being its going to be a lot of registered shoots and comps , and trying to build up experience / confidence

DTL is one of the best ways to build mental discipline , to shoot 100 birds requires so much more concentration than shooting 25 birds , EVERY shot has to be the same over and over again , ONE lapse in concentration and you've missed ! .

i have been a pigeon shooter for over 3 decades and i love it , i will carry on till i cant do it anymore , but in all the time i have been shooting i have Always wanted to shoot for my county , but with one thing or another i just nevr got around to having a go , to be honest i think i just didn't have the bottle when i was younger . but now I'm older and have a bigger set of balls ! so its time to have a go ,

i have a big mountain to climb , but if i don't try i will never know .
