Would you ever set it back up as an active weapon or is it beyond safe limit? where would you get fulminate from these days other than from dismantling primers ( tricky) and I bet that was a bit of a game loading it into those narrow copper tubes. A nice old piece.of history

Alfred Clayton made some of the best balanced punt guns ever made and his big bore shoulder guns, such as this one, all handle superbly.

 

He used a barrel profile not seen in the subsequent Birmingham made big bore muzzle loaders that put the weight nicely between the hands.

 

Is this one relief bored?

Alfred Clayton built this gun when he moved from Lymington Hants, to Southampton Hants in business here from 1855-57 at 133 High Street ,so that I would say this is when this gun was built which is towards the end of the percussion era , yes it is reliefed bored.
