loriusgarrulus
Use a clean wet teabag that has been used to make a brew. Remove from cup before the milk and sugar is added. Wipe eyes with this 2-3 times a day using a fresh teabag each time. Should improve within 3 days. If it worsens or does not improve trip to the vet. If the dog is pale coloured it will have brown panda eyes while you do this but it does wash off.
Passionforangling
I had exactly what you describe with my lab a couple of months ago. I took him out for a bit of training, nothing arduous, no nastly brambles or anything as far as I can remember. As I put him back in the car I noticed his left eye was red in the inside corner. During the day I kept an eye (excuse the pun!) on it and it seemed to be getting a bit worse but nothing to worry about but I was prepared to take him to the vets the next morning if it was still evident. Last thing at night, I let him out for his last wee and when he came in from the garden I couldn't believe it. His other eye was almost completely red so a visit to the emergency vets was absolutely necessary. Sunday nights at nearly midnight don't come cheap at the vets but I had to have him checked out. He was given some piriton type tablets and dome drops. What caused this fast reaction in the other eye I have no idea. My guess would be it was a coincidence and he poked himself on something in the garden. Anyway, it all cleared up and he's fine. Hope yours is too. Vet was happy with antibiotic drops for a few days sorted it for just a few quid How much a loss is an eye to a working gundog?
