Hi all

After having a rummage through the gun cabinet I thought I'd take out an old timer for a blast.

After a weeks pigoen shooting the trigger has started to play up and it will on occasion double discharge.

Anyone had theirs to bits or know any places to get bits??

I think the guns were copies of the remmi model 32 and then Tikka took em over as the Finn classic.

Cheers for any pointers

Hi Caplock - how's the WEBLEY going?

My brother got a Valmet (or something similar beginning with V), I think his is a trap model, think their American. Chambers guns in Scotland sell lots of spares, worth a try. Failing that send a nice e-mail to Trulock and Harris (gunsmith in Sporting Gun magazine), if any body will know he will.

now then could want cleaning internally but. some old game guns like brno had a button at the front of the trigger guard, which when pressed fired both barrels simo.

my mate has one. it took him weeks to find out the gun wasn't faulty

Thanks for the tips and pointers chaps, sorry would have answered sooner but the wireless router has been playing up.

Just noticed that the barrel selector mounted on the trigger has gone slack.

I'll pull it apart tmrww and have a squint, something feels as though it's given up after a good twenty years service!

Cheers

A= trigger return spring

B= barrel selector trip spring (strip of spring steel)

C=selctor trip

D= barrel selector

E= problem area!

Right for the benefit hopefully of any other Valmet shooters if you can relate to the simple diagram above I found the problem with the gun!

After removing the stock the trigger group drops down and fwds after removing its retaining pin from the action.

If you look at yours you will find a small hole in front of the trigger through which protrudes the end of the selector trip spring. If all is well it should have a neat right angle finish to retain it in its hole. Mine didn't and I'm assuming recoil had allowed the spring to move fwd off of its place on the selector trip and allowed everything to move out of place and go where it wanted, hence the double discharge.,

The selector trip just sits on the barrel selector button and is held down in place by the errant spring.

Heated the end and redressed the right angle and now all is secure again.

Tip: make sure the selctor trip spring passes through the coils of the trigger return spring, not over or under as I found out after the 4th bloody rebuild attempt!!

Cheers all
