Glenlivet
Has anyone got any tips for cleaning the action on old SBSs? At the moment I'm working away with Duraglit but was wondering if there is anything stronger/quicker out there.

Glenlivet
I'd wondered about an automotive product. Thanks chaps. Can't believe how much dna I've already removed. Is there a finishing product which will keep the finish?
figgy
Clear coat lacquer, it's what they put over colour case hardened guns.

Wingman
Clean with acetone to remove the grease and muck (buy it from beauty or hairdressing suppliers) and then autosol. Just did this on my old sidelock and it's come up great. Also re blued the barrels with cold blue and I am very pleased with the results. I know opinions vary on cold bluing but I had little to lose as the gun was cheap and the barrels a bit tatty. Good luck Edited February 17, 2016 by Wingman

I'll have to see if the barrels can be rebored before deciding on blueing.
