fishbone
Picked up a new gun today which I'm well chuffed with. Its a Beretta S686 special. Question. On the barrels it says 12GA.2 3/4"-28" Its a fixed choke but can anyone confirm the size of the chokes? Does this mean its got 2 x 3/4inch chokes? When I figure out how to compress the pictures I'll put a few up. Dan

fishbone
2 3/4" chambers, 28" barrels. Thanks mate. Sorry but I'm new to this! Will 2 x 3/4 inch fixed chokes be too tight for pigeon shooting?
Harnser
You need to find out what the chokes are . Ideal choking for most forms of shooting would be quarter and half choke . The 2 3/4 is the size of the guns chambers not the size of the chokes . If you bought the gun from a RFD take it backand ask him to measure the chokes for you. You should have asked what the chokes were before you bought the gun. Incidently a nice gun that will serve you well . Harnser

I saw this on the barrel this evening and thought my ignorance had been exploited! Edited February 20, 2016 by fishbone

Jason_ox
On the berretta I think the fixed choke is usually denoted by stamped stars like **** for 1/4 *** for 1/2 ** for 3/4 * for full. dougall
Thanks mate. Sorry but I'm new to this! Will 2 x 3/4 inch fixed chokes be too tight for pigeon shooting? ?2 3/4 is the inch measurement of the chamber(the bit you stick the cartridge in) this has nothing to do with choke which is slight narrowing at other end where shot comes out.......if it is 1/4 & 1/2(probably 1/4 in bottom barrel 1/2 in top) then you have nothing to think about as ideal for most things.Hope makes sense.
