Case swapping

Recommended Posts

Hia lads, been looking at a few recipes to try out over the summer months, and wondering how important the casing matters?? I'm loading for 10 bore, I have lots of once fired federal cases, some recipes are federal case, some are remington case.. Could I use the federal as a replacement or not? What would it alter? Is it dangerous? Genuine questions I'm new to this... Cheers

It's been years since I put together shot shells but it all revolved around the case each make had a different capacity the height of the wad would dictate case in point my Winchester AA case recipe wouldn't work in Remington or any other maker's for that matter

i`d use the exact hulls. its to do with hull fit with the components, wad / powder etc.

the old 8mm basewads from fiocchi are classic, they went from ~10mm then 8mm then low basewads. then everything now is low basewad cheddite type.

a recipe that fits the latter will not fit the other...

same deal as the "gordon system" huge basewads.
