Repair lacquer on Sako 85 stock

Hi all,

I've managed to nick the lacquer on the stock (laminate) - stupidly transporting the cleaning rod in the bag with the rifle.

It's only tiny but I want to make a small repair to stop any further delamination. Any tips on how to go about it?

I'm thinking to use 1500grit wet and dry to clean it up, touch in with some lacquer then wet and dry again until it's smooth and polish.

Is there a risk with using any particular lacquer (I.e a reaction)? It's in matte lacquer now so I was thinking just buy a small pot designed for touching up wooden floors.

Now that's a great link, many thanks, I'm going to try this. Especially like the tip with the razor blade with cellotape to make sure you only remove excess lacquer from the area of repair.
