henry931
VV N135 with a 25gr bullet is a load that pops up a lot The book max is 22.8gr. We are loading 23.5gr for 4200 fps in a 26" barrel (slightly warm load). 24gr is getting too hot. P.S. Use thick primers in the .17 Rem e.g. Rem 7.5, CCI 450 / Br4 etc. Edited April 14, 2016 by henry931
TONY R
Most accurate load we ever got to work in a friends 17 rem was Remington cas federal 205M primer with berger 30 grain MEF bullets the flat based ones 25 To 25.5 grain of vitavouri N540 gave 3800 fps at 12 ft . Swaped to a 25 grain berger bullet as were struggling to get 30s last year. this caused a switch in powders to vitavouri N135 and settled on 24 grain this gave 3900fps at 12ft and good accuracy. 22 grains was doing 3500fps in the tikka 22 inch barrel.
