Daveo26
Maybe I'll just ask on here then. Black powder substitutes...... Do they have to be stored like black powder? Do I need an explosives license to buy it? Smooth bore black powder guns are available on a sgc, What does it mean if they are not measured in bore? If it's an imperial measurement? Do you shoot shot or solids through them?

Yes all shooters powders should be stored in a wooden box like black powder, H&S rules 2 . No you don't need an explosives license to buy it just a lot of money. An explosives license is free. 3. not sure
Zapp
If you shoot solid ball then it will need to be on FAC conditioned in the same way as slug in a normal shotgun.

Feltwad
Yes pyrodex is a smokeless powder it is better to store it the same has black powder, if any doubts ask your local constabulary ,personnally I never use it because it is very corrosive. Daveo26
Thanks fellas. I want to buy a repo 12 bore sxs, for fun clay shooting and I intent ( if i get one ) to shoot a pheasant one day. Iv found plans online for a powder storage box, Proper black powder sounds like the way to go. Iv seen an Enfield musket listed as a 12 bore, it's cheap and tempting but I doubt it will be of much use to me as a shotgun.

Tom R
If you shoot solid ball then it will need to be on FAC conditioned in the same way as slug in a normal shotgun. Interesting thought. Can you show the specific part of the law where that is stated?
