buze
I'm invited to a do in 2 weeks, and I will have the friday off near Burton -- I'm looking for a nice shoot around the area (mostly south of derby I suppose) -- anyone has a suggestion? buze
Doveridge is worth a look, http://www.doveridgeclaysports.co.uk Thanks! bookmarked. Looks pretty 'serious' as a setup!
Fabhui
Lowes Lane is worth a look. Friendly bunch of folk there.
buze
Thanks for the tip @Fabhui -- I think we've decided to visit doveridge -- more or less because they have that 'compakt' setup that I've been shooting at E.J Churchill and my wife hasn't yet... LowStandards
Second Lowe's lane, open 11am - 4pm on a Fri I hate Doveridge, seems on every sporting stand you're shooting through trees with your neck craned back.
SPARKIE
Thanks! bookmarked. Looks pretty 'serious' as a setup! one of the best around... Lowes Lane is worth a look. Friendly bunch of folk there. not a bad ground but doesn't compare to doveridge... Second Lowe's lane, open 11am - 4pm on a Fri I hate Doveridge, seems on every sporting stand you're shooting through trees with your neck craned back. erm every stand has the sun in your face at lowes lane think id sooner have a tricky shot than sun burnt retinas.... In my opinion you wont find a better set up nr burton than doveridge Edited May 4, 2016 by SPARKIE
buze
So I went to doveridge last friday, and shot perhaps a hundred in the 'valley'.. I thought the targets were a little bit boring... You only mostly have left->right and right->left; no incomers, teals, rabbits and you only shoot uphill. Now I understand that they are careful of clay fragments perhaps, but I thought they could have going away targets launched from the other side of the valley, or something... You need to start nr the garden there is also traps next to the pond and also they have grouse butts set up at the far end of the Olympic skeet section.. And the high towers by the grouse butts too.
