il cacciatore
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/pintglasscrown/ EU is changing the crown on the pint glass to a 'CE' mark. What next? I've signed it but it wont be listened to... A move by the European Parliament proposes the removal of the Crown on our pint glasses and the substitution with a ''CE'' mark. The crown has been on our glasses for over 300 years and represents a fine British tradition which should be preserved.

il cacciatore
Me. British beer is the best in the world... apart maybe from Belgian... .. . or German. Today its our pint glasses... tomorrow its our beer! The French will make us drink theirs and that would be a true tragedy!

But as of last night, I have a box of mixed Belgian dark beers, ranging from 6%-11.3% good stuff! Otherwise its Guiness (Irish I know) and local brews for me. British Beer really is good stuff compared to watery french stuff

Pushkin
Remember the chap who wanted to continue selling his bananas by the old lb (pound weight) system? He fought against having to sell by the kilogram and lost out. Won't be much of an argument from our Government
krazykayaker
Thats what being a member of the european union does, the politicians do what THEY think is best or suits them but dont consult the people if affects in the process, although i dont think changing beer glasses is going to change the country!! also when was the last time u actually got a full pint in a local pub??? SNAKEBITE
also when was the last time u actually got a full pint in a local pub??? You want start using another pub if that is the case! A good one for a short measure is to say to the barperson "Can you fit a scotch in there?" If the answer is "yes" then reply "Well fill the bloody thing up then!" Pushkin
Well what do you know? We won our argument - we are getting to keep all our imperial measures I'll make a point of raising a glass to the lad who argued about how to sell his bananas by the lb. Pushkin.
