Cunninghar
Lo Peeps, Just read the write up in Airgunner on the Gamo PT 80 CO2 air pistol. According to my calculations it would produce around 3 lbs/foot with an eight grain pellet. Would this be effective in killing feral pigeons in sheds i.e. at about 15 Metres maximum range? Thanks Mike...
Cyber
I personally would never shoot at anything with a face with 3 ft/lbs of energy . If I remember correctly it takes about 3ft/lbs of energy from a pellet to enter the skull of rabbits/pigeons and give you a humane kill. If the gun is only producing 3ft/lbs then it will be less when the pellet hits the quarry. Just my own personal opinion and someone will correct me if I'm wrong on the humane kill bit I'm sure. beatingisbest
No Use a full power air rifle (ie 11.5ftlbs)
monkeyjaimz
As far as I'm aware, air pistols are not suitable for hunting . Period. Targets and tin cans only
naddan28
No Use a full power air rifle (ie 11.5ftlbs) whats your ratcatcher then?
beatingisbest
No Use a full power air rifle (ie 11.5ftlbs) whats your ratcatcher then? I only shoot quarry close in, maximum 20 yards (but as a matter of principal i dont take quarry further than about 15 yards with mine), and i know for a fact that i can ensure clean kills (and always have done). If i couldnt ensure clean kills then it would be a plinking rifle ONLY! But for the purpose of a beginner and newbie to the sport, i think that full power should always be advised. As everyone always says about using airguns- Extreme accuracy MUST be ensured if you cannot group a rifle within about a penny at suitable range for that particular rifle you shouldnt shoot live quarry. For normal airgun hunting distances (30 yards and above) 10ftlbs+ always! (11.5ftlbs should be about right) I cannot stress enough, accuracy is VITAL Power must really be over 11ftlbs for normal hunting distances. (As part of what I am looking to avoid is collateral damage to buildings and am looking for something less powerfull than 12 foot/lbs which tends to send the pellet through the bird and through the box profile behind it). Second question who is this newbie you are talking about? Please enlighten. Mike... No Use a full power air rifle (ie 11.5ftlbs) whats your ratcatcher then?
