rodp
Right gents, had an empty slot for a while for a .204, just fancied one. I'm not in to gun porn, I like walnut and black or blue barrel, non of this fancy laminate or synthetic and shiny bits so my choice should be easy. Been looking around for a nice used complete outfit, because it's easy, but doesn't seem many of this calibre around.Looks like I may have to bite the bullet ( ) and buy new, so I've been having a nosey around. I actually like CZ, nice, simple, accurate enough for me. But a buddy mentioned Howa, question is, any good and do they come with mag ? What about Tikka ? Got a 595 and it's proven to be very nice.Where would the cheapest place be to buy either CZ, Howa or Tikka, as that seems to be what I've narrowed it down to, and what's the pro's and cons of them all? steve_b_wales
I have a Howa 1500 Varmint in .204 Ruger. An excellent rifle, very accurate, but heavy. The weight doesn't bother me as I don't walk around too far carrying the rifle. The Howa has a floor plate, but changing to a drop magazine is easy, and will set you back around £100, although I bought two new ones for £70 each. maxwell
The Howa is a reliable accurate gun much like the CZ but the T3 is lighter and smoother to use so it all depends on what use it will get (truck gun or walked) if you can afford the extra buy the Tikka, I have owned two Howa's and a Tikka in .204" heavy varmint, sporter and T3lite of which I currently have the Howa sporter as a general purpose vermin truck gun but all have been just as accurate Oh and the new Howa now has the drop mag I believe
Alycidon
Howa, Tikka,Sako. All good weapons. Not sure if CZ do the CZ527 in 204, if so its well worth a look but you might need to change the trigger. I did shoot a new Sako 85 laminated in 223 last weekend, lovely rifle.
