Beet tops is the expression used when sugar beet has been harvested in the Autumn and the leaves (tops) are left behind. motty Posted June 4, 2016 Report Share Posted June 4, 2016 Perhaps the beet was for an AD plant. I had some beet fields harvested a few weeks back. They attracted a few pigeons before they were drilled with maize. Beet tops in June? Could it be anything else? You may of course mean the beet leaves. Today I watched a few pigeons in a beet field and they were going for the weeds between the rows rather than the beet plants themselves.
