Greener GP MK2 vs MK1

Quick question please guys for those that know these guns.

Been researching Martini actioned Greener GP's having seen a nice MK2 recently. I understand that some (I think) MK2's were made by Webley and Scott and were of lesser quality and construction than the MK1 series. I have read that they used cheaper components like circlips instead of bolts in the action and are generally considered lesser versions of the original.

If one was looking to purchase a good Greener would it be preferable to hold out for a decent MK1 or are the later ones any good? Does anyone know of a good source on the net that covers the differences in the various models and perhaps a timeline of manufacture?

Appreciate any advice or knowledge those in the know could share!

There were several variations .Some had pins and C clips . Others had screws and locking pins and there were some that had knock out split spring pins . The ones made at Webleys after the Greener by out used the same machine fixtures and tooling that had come from Greeners and as far as I know the same materials .These were and always had been a largely mass produced gun in any of their forms ,military, police and civilian models . There were also a number of industrial applications using the basic Martini action as a basis .

I have had the mk1 and the mk2. and there isn't any real difference in performance/reliability mine served me well for twenty years.

But for no other reason than looks, I preferred the mk1.
