Malinois
Hi, I am looking for advice on how to cut down a T38 torch (hacksaw I know) and then wire in an external battery pack? Tried night vision forums, you either don't get a reply or they are quite cryptic Cheers Ian
fruity
Not really a problem I done it with my T20 put in a step down and run it off a 12v cctv battery
Malinois
Hi, that's what I want to do. Do you solderhe positve to the Pill spring and the negative to the tube? Ian
fruity
That's what I did , hence positive in first on battery which touches the spring
mick miller
If you use a step down regulator make sure it is the switching type. Otherwise you'll be wasting you're battery generating heat! Positive goes to the spring and negative to the edge of the pill.

Malinois
Mmm mm. Why do you have to use a step down if I'm using g the same power source? Cheers Ian
FalconFN
You won't need to if you're only using 4.2V. I used two 18650s to get enough to power the camera (8.4V) but I added a buck converter to step down enough for the viewfinder and T20. steve_b_wales
I wanted to use two 18650 batteries to power a camera, screen and T38 torch. According to Andy from Ludicrous Lumens, it would work, but the screen would 'flash' when used.
Malinois
I'm using a serial battery box with two batteries for the camera and screen and a seperates single battery holder for the torch. Ian
