jon0881
I thought i'd bagged a massive bit of land in landashire. My granddads sister and brother run two farms with alot of land so i sent her a letter and asked my granddad to call her and see if it was ok. Got a verbal yes!!! But i need to come over to discuss boundries. Nothing happened for a while so i decided to give her a call about it, she was very nice about it but they said that they have shooting on there already and i got knocked back. It really does go to show that sometimes ‘its not what you know, its who you know’ doesn't really make a difference. Well i can tell you im gutted, i'd written out the permission permit and everything. Oh well, i guess its going to take me 6 months of cold calling farmers to get some land...... lurcherboy
The 'nothing happened for a while' bit is where you should of been banging on the door. Had the same thing happen to me mate. Get your grandad back on the case LB
jon0881
I will mention it to him and see what happens but i doubt it would change anything. It should tho, as he owns a share of the business as an inherritance. Most places round here have syndicate guns or have paying people shooting (possibly with exclussive rights), i think thats the reason she said no. 08shooter
dont worry if you can get permission on a small farm the rest will go by word of mouth.try asking in a place that farmers go to buy feed, ask if you can stick a notice up its worth a try,i started off with just 250 acres of my dads 4 years later i have about 2500 to 3000 acres and cant get round it all now i just work in rotation to try and keep my toe in the door,i buy each farmer a bottle and a box of chocs each xmas to show my appreciation. keep trying and dont be a bit shy about asking.start with the small farmers first

Went out again today and no joy still. Some farmers are even rude about it even when i use good maners before and after. I thought a farm shop was interested but they still didnt give me the nod. Im getting fed up of it now, im going to try some letters then just continue to pay for pigeon shooting this year.
